Formula 1 and the International Automobile Federation (FIA) announced today that after a thorough assessment of the current situation in the Middle East, it has been decided not to hold the Bahrain Grand Prix and the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix as part of the World Championship in April. The statement clarified that several alternatives were considered, but it was ultimately decided not to include any substitute races in April. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the FIA and our outstanding organizing partners for their full support and understanding, especially as they were looking forward to hosting the races with their usual enthusiasm and energy. We look forward to returning to them as soon as circumstances allow. In turn, FIA President Mohammed bin Sulaiman said: 'The FIA will always prioritize the safety and well-being of the motorsport community, and we will continue to work with all partners to monitor developments and make appropriate decisions in light of the current situation.' It was also decided that the scheduled rounds of the Formula 2, Formula 3, and Formula 1 Academy championships at the same time will not be held as scheduled. The statement noted that the decision was made in full consultation with the FIA and local race organizers. President and CEO of the World Championship Stefano Domenicali said: 'Although this decision was difficult, unfortunately, it is the right decision at this stage given the current situation in the Middle East.'
