The organizers of the 26th Gulf Championship announced that the tournament, which was supposed to take place in Iraq, will be moved to Qatar due to the complex epidemiological situation caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
According to the words of the president of the organizing committee, the new mandate for conducting the tournament in another country facilitates the introduction of changes in the calendar of competitions, and also allows athletes and teams from different countries to participate in competitions without any problems.
"We would like to express our gratitude to our Qatari partners for their support and readiness to accept the tournament," added a member of the organizing committee.
The Gulf Championship is held every two years with the participation of national teams from member countries. The next tournament, the "Gulf Cup," was scheduled for December, but due to the complicated situation, plans had to be changed.
