Desire Pasahal Brighola, 46 years old, from Sta-Crus, Laguna, is a pedagogue whose self-affirmed stance goes beyond the confines of her profession's usual parameters. For her friends and colleagues, she has been a dedicated teacher for seven years in Bahrain, committing her life to the noble cause. The list of problems she has had to confront includes complex medical issues, serious legal battles, and personal struggles, compounded by a feeling of isolation. A love, flowing from her faith, finds concrete expression; it began in her local church, where she was inspired: love for brothers and sisters is akin to love for God. Thus, she transitioned from the vibrant classes of Bahrain to the heart of Uzbekistan, which vividly demonstrates her dedication and heritage. The idea of providing practical assistance came to her mind as she realized that this was indeed necessary. Despite educational obligations, she actively engaged in advocacy, collaborating with local organizations. Her significant contribution has been collectively noted. She has become a very reliable source of information, a key contact point, and a beacon of hope during difficult times. Since 2021, Desire has been recognized with a prestigious award for notable contributions in PTAB. Her unique commitment and advocacy for migrant workers, particularly for domestic workers, has involved tackling complex medical problems, significant legal conflicts, and deep personal struggles, which have been remarkably commendable. The award was given to her in recognition of her invaluable assistance in the Filipino community program "Bayanihan para kay Kabayan" during the pandemic year 2020. With her unwavering dedication and leadership in the Filipino Teachers Association in Bahrain (PTAB), she has inspired many to participate in helping those in need.
