Bahrain Leads UN Security Council

Bahrain assumed the presidency of the UN Security Council for April today, succeeding the United States as part of the monthly rotation among council members. Bahrain's Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Jamal Fares Al-Ruwaihi, called on the Security Council to issue a clear and explicit condemnation of any Iranian attempts to justify or legitimize its hostile actions. The Ambassador of Bahrain to the UN stated: 'We are seeking an international resolution that will protect freedom of navigation and establish that international waterways should not be used as a means of pressure.'
