The Gulf Statistical Center issued the tenth edition of the Gulf Statistical Atlas 2024. The atlas aims to support decision-makers and researchers by providing unified and comparable data that reflect the development reality in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. It contributes to enhancing Gulf statistical integration and establishing the role of official statistics as a pivotal tool for policy-making and future forecasting. The Secretary-General of the GCC, Jassem Mohamed Al-Badiwi, affirmed that accurate and reliable statistics are a fundamental pillar for sound planning and decision-making. He stated that developing statistical work and enhancing its integration among GCC countries supports comprehensive development tracks and boosts the competitiveness of Gulf economies. The edition revealed that the total population of GCC countries reached approximately 61.5 million in 2024. On the economic front, the atlas indicated that the GCC's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) at current prices was around $2.3 trillion, with the average GDP per capita at about $38,200. The overall Gulf inflation rate for the year was recorded at 1.7%, reflecting relative price stability in 2024. In foreign trade, the edition showed that the total value of goods trade for GCC countries amounted to approximately $1.6 trillion, achieving a goods trade surplus of $109.7 billion. This reflects the resilience of trade performance and the continued pivotal role of GCC countries in global trade.
