Empowering Health in the Filipino Community

A medical mission held on January 31, 2025, in Bahrain, aimed to serve the Filipino community through essential health services. The initiative was organized by Anchor in Christ the Savior (ACTS) in collaboration with Shifa Al-Jazeera Hospital and the Filipino Pharmacists Association. The event provided vital health screenings and consultations to around 140 Filipino expatriates.

The Filipino Pharmacists Association Bahrain, together with Shifa Al Jasira Hospital and The Great Shepherd Ministry, organized a similar event in December the previous year. The collective efforts of community-based organizations and health professionals were instrumental in promoting preventive healthcare and general well-being among beneficiaries. This proactive approach is expected to have a positive impact, fostering a culture of prioritizing health and seeking medical care when necessary.

Rev. Genesis R. Bangunan, Chairman of the ACTS Church Board, emphasized the organization's values of community support through compassionate assistance. He highlighted that such initiatives not only provide healthcare services but also promote faith and unity within the community, making challenges easier to overcome.

Mr. Bing G. Puyo, President of the Filipino Pharmacists Association Bahrain, expressed deep gratitude for the success of the medical mission and its contribution to closing health gaps. Sulfikar Kabeer, Business Development Manager of Shifa Al-Jazeera Hospital, acknowledged the importance of collaboration between organizations in ensuring accessible healthcare for all.

The collaborative effort between community groups and healthcare providers showcased the power of working together to address health issues and improve overall well-being. Rev. Alfredo K. Cudiamat, senior Pastor of ACTS church, emphasized the significance of early detection, preventive care, and overall health management. The event not only focused on physical well-being but also provided an opportunity to share messages of hope and faith.
