The Argentine driver, Franco Colapinto, finished last in the first test at the Bahrain International Circuit after causing the first red flag of the day. According to the Argentine News Agency, the Alpine driver suffered a problem with his car, the A526, at turn eight and was forced to stop for several minutes. He eventually came to a halt and had to be taken back to the pits, although he was able to return to the track. The first test of the day in Bahrain was led by Dutchman Max Verstappen (Red Bull) with a time of 1:35.433 in 65 laps, closely followed by Oscar Piastri in the McLaren (1:35.602 in 54 laps). Colapinto completed the circuit with 28 laps and a time of 1:40.330. Previously, in the initial tests at the Barcelona circuit, he had also caused the first red flag of the day. The pre-season tests will continue in two sessions this Wednesday at two time slots (4 to 8 and 9 to 13), and will be extended on Thursday 12 and Friday 13, with days maintaining the same format regarding the schedules.
